    Ufc 93

Wasn't really looking forward to this one until last night when I watched the preview with Colemand and Rua. For me Rua could still go all the way in this business, he was under prepared when he moved over to the UFC, but I think he's got his head screwed on now and what better motivation than Coleman.

I'd completely forgotten about Rua's fight with Coleman, Rua was all over him, Coleman made a grab for Rua's legs and as he went down he popped his elbow. The ref jumped in and Coleman continued to try and beat him (whilst having a go at the ref). Disgraceful behaviour, Rua's corner got involved and it all got messy. Colemand was mouthing off after the fight too.
Coleman is 44 or so now, I think this may well be his last fight in the UFC.

    Shogun to take Coleman out.

    Franklin Henderson
Henderson came over from Pride with a big rep, but like others before him, he seemed underprepared and struggled to settle. He beat Wanderlei Silva but then suffered consecutive losses to two of the best fighters in the division, Jackson and Silva.

Franklin has beaten a couple of respected fighters in his time, an aging and declining Shamrock and he took the middleweight title off the late Evan Tanner. His two biggest defeats have been handed to him by the best probably the best figher there is (Anderson Silva) which is no disgrace at all.

    Franklin to win on points.

UFC seem to put pretty ****ty cards on in the UK / Ireland.

No way would Franklin / Hendo be headlining a bill in America.

****in disgraceful performance by Rua. His stamina is ****, obviously hasn't been working as hard as he should be. His first fight in the UFC he was blowing and ****ed after 30 seconds and this was much the same. He has so much talent but he needs to get his ass in shape.

The Davis fight was a cracker though.

Coleman's a warrior. It would have been very interesting if he'd lasted the last 30 seconds as he deffinately was winning the final round untill he got knocked out and had been able to secure takedowns with relative ease in the other two rounds as well. After seeing how the judges rewarded Henderson for the takedowns, i wonder if Coleman may have scraped the decision.

Still - more proof that the Pride guys aren't up to much now that they can't juice. Shogun was awfull once again. If he'd been in there with anyone half decent he would've gotten mashed up.

I'd have to take Lidell for that on Rua's UFC evidence.

Pride fighters have struggled, but then the rules are so much tighter in the UFC, when a fighter went down in Pride, you could really go in for the kill.

I'm still waiting for Fedor to come over.

I don't think you'll see Fedor in UFC any time soon. Don't get me wrong i'd love to see him go to work on Broc's face but i don't think it'll happen.

Remember that alot of guy's who've come over from Pride have been successful. Anderson Silva, Big Nog, Lidell, Dan Henderson, Rampage Jackson, Wandy Sila are all ex Pride champions.

Liddell, Anderson Silva and Rampage were never champions in Pride.

Liddel has only fought in pride as a UFC representitive in the Middleweight Grand Prix, and then he got destroyed by Rampage.

Anderson Silva was young and not particularly successfull in Pride, he was the Cage Rage champion when he came over to the UFC though.

Rampage had mixed success but got crushed in brutal fashion when he fought for the title. His ex trainer Juanito was quite vocal about the fact that when he came to the UFC he would have the chance to fight on an equal playing field due to the drug testing.

I would say of all the big names to come directly over from Pride, only Rampage and Big-Nog have been successfull to date. Wandy and Shogun are finding it hard because they can't just kick someone in the face when they're on all fours, which was the way they won a hell of a lot of there fights in Japan.

                  Ahhh, those were the days.

I think the reputation of Pride has suffered more so because those with big reputations failed so convincingly. I was really looking forward to CroCop, Wanderlei Silva and Rua (all men with massive repuations in Japan) and they've all failed.

I still think Fedor would be an exception though.

I really hope the Japs create a new version of Pride with the same rules (or lack of).
