Still don't think he's fully over his illness tho, glandular fever can linger for years after. But i also think that Fed, with his graceful, effortless game, can keep playing for a good few years yet at the top level...possiblyl even longer than Nadal, even with Nadal being the younger player, cos Nadal pounds the court and his knees will suffer for it.

Nicely put, you could clearly see that illness ****ed him right up, i havent been able to watch much of it mainly listened to it, is he looking crisp?

Not had a chance to see much of it myself. Saw his final set against that Ber...what's his name, the one who took him to 5 sets, and i watched the reply on Beeb of him yesterday, and in that match he was impeccable...so good his opponent (Del Potro, world number 8) lost hope halfway though the second set and all but gave up...Fed's touch was amazing, and some of the shots he was pulling off were mind blowing.

Having said all this, Roddick will now blow him aside in straight sets.

Here's hoping, but i have a feeling if he does get Nadal his mental hang-up that he seems to have against Nadal will kick in again.

True, but the aussie open does love Fed, good performance against the roddick and a little rest should surely see him through!?

Would love to think so, but recently i've had zero confidence in Fed's ability to beat Nadal. But i listened to his match against Roddick today, and by all accounts some of Federer's shots were supreme, so if he can keep up the form that saw him beat Roddick and Del Potro so easily, maybe, just maybe...

...and maybe Verdasco will beat Nadal...

Fed has been up for this since day 1 and i see him beating Nadal fairly easily, 3 or 4 setter.
His illness has been played down so much because he just hasnt played on it at all, hell he could have been out for a few seasons really but he does look like somewhere near his best now and as such the others better watch out.

Gutted...woke up early to watch the match...****ing thing went on too long, and at 2-2 in sets, i had to go to footie, so i missed the final set...feels like a waste of time now...plus i wanted Verdasco to win as well...

                            C'mon Fed!!!
