England are in the process of rebuilding FFS. You take top calibre players out of any team in the world and they're going to struggle. It takes time to replace players like Ian Botham, Fred Trueman, Jim Laker, Godfrey Evans, Harold Larwood, W. G. Grace, FFS, etc.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

A bit of a post and yeah, I'm well aware of the task they face in replacing that staggering group of recently retired talent. It just seems really strange to look at an Aussie squad and not think 'wow'.

However Dave was right...they'd still stuff that English shower. What a ****ing disaster we are.

Haddin made a nice century in the one dayer today, he's a bloody cracking batsman when he gets going. Young Callum Ferguson (Sth Aussie ) had a nice little innings going too before he was wrongly dismissed by Bucknor He looks like a young Ponting at times

We have alot of young talented batters coming through, Hughes, Marsh and Ferguson will all be class. Its the lack of spinners that is worrying IMO. We have none at the moment that actually spin the ball.

So the Aussies are rescued by the weather to save them from a nailed-on and humiliating series defeat to a woeful New Zealand side. Even we beat them.

From the series' of 05 and 07, which were contested by arguably the top two sides in the world, the 2009 Ashes is set to be the equivalent of Zimbabwe v Bangladesh.

                        nailed on? Hardly.

Dont let these last few one dayers cloud your judgement, we are experimenting with the side at the moment. We destroyed NZ in the tests late last year

We have a heaps of bloody injuries too mate, nobody seems to be noting this when seeing our results. You put a fully fit Brett Lee, and a fit Stuey Clark in our side and we will be a different side. We have no problems batting, and making scores, its bowling sides out thats been the problem. Our two best bowlers have been missing (Lee did play in the tests, but he was clearly not himself, and will miss the SA tour with surgery)

We will **** you up still

Look at those seven names, you tell me a side in the world that wouldn't totally capitulate losing 7 of the very best players ever to have played the ****ing game man. We did well against a very very good Saffie side (we would have won a 5 Test series), the one dayers have been a disaster though.....mostly because we have been experimenting too much, trying to find a few hidden gems etc.

Ive also not yet mentioned the loss of Symonds and Clark. Two gun players, one has lost it mentally, the other injured.

We are in a rebuilding period FFS, and still have a side that is more than capable of beating any other side (bar India in India).

                              I agree Zimbabwe/Australia will **** up Bangladesh/England.

A defeat looked nailed-on to me. Duckworth-Lewis would've seen an NZ win but as they'd not batted enough overs they couldn't use the DL method, hence the no-result. They would've won.
