Ive been working a lot over the past couple of months and the holiday^ and also recently been with a female a fair bit, these two together mainly due to mcdonalds for my dinner at work and going out for dinner and drinking more, have seen me stick on a stone and a bit of so in that amount of time
(on top of the holiday weight
)
So basically im looking at trimming myself back down because some of me clothes are becoming a big tight, work trousers especially.
So ive read through some of the tips and stuff in this thread and im gonna try and keep it up to date, so you lot can ridicule me for not keeping up.
First step has been quitting drinking now im looking at trying to improve my diet, I usually just starve myself and cut myself down to one meal but ive been told this is a no-no, so here we go, healthy from now on.
Currently at 14 stone 3 as of 12.05 am!
Tis a good weight.
3rd place. Worst champions ever.

It absolutely, categorically IS the answer, or one of them; if you can do itOriginally posted by Alex View PostFWIW I dont think quitting drinking is the answer. Going cold turkey never seems to be a good long term solution as all it seemed to do for me was create resentment that I couldn't touch the stuff.
Same with cakes, crisps, chocolate and anything fried.
Drinking, beer especially, is up there with the worst possible thing you can do if your goal is to shed fat
Though cakes, crisps, chocolate and things fried in bad oil I do agree with
My advice:
- Cut out drinking, or reduce the amount of beer you drink as much as possible without making yourself miserable
- Sugar. (see above, stacks of it in beer) Literally the worst thing ever. It's taken a while, but finally, the world seems to be getting the point
I cannot stress how absolutely vital it is to remove as much sugar as humanly possible from your diet
- Carbs, with a caveat. If you want to shed FAT (weight is irrelevant) then the absolute best way is to change how your body deals with food. Currently, it uses carbohydrates for energy. But unless you're exerting yourself on a daily basis beyond the norm, you cannot burn the amount of carbs you ingest, and the excess is stored as fat
So. If you do not eat any carbs, after 3 or 4 weeks your body will start to utilise what you've had stored up. Ie, you shed fat
The caveat is that in order to maintain your shredded figure, you need to keep to that very low carb lifestyle. This is not easy, but inherently possible
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Just came across this thread again.. I decided to do the fitness test again 6 years on 41 now .... **** you test 26 Press ups in a row ...
Alex ... cake beer ..sugar ..chocolate crisps ...fried food etc ... they are all ****e .... tasty ****e granted ... but ****e all the same and heres the rub ... the more you eat of them .. the more you want .. the fatter you become .. the more mood swings you have ... Let me ask you a question .. do you suffer from brain fog ... lack of energy .. poor concentration ... if you do .. its because you are jacking your body with sugar .. Its amazing once you eat clean ..even just for a week .. non stop .. your cravings almost evaporuate ... your insulin levels calm down ... and you dont find yourself at 1.00 am in the morning in your Y fronts sitting by the light of the fridge surrounded by choclate wrappers ...
Life is tough at times .... but at least if you are in good physical shape it can help you navigate life's up and downs a lot better I feel ...
If changing your life is too much .. concentrate on one meal at a time .... Start with breakfast ... Mon to Friday eat healthy .. weekend do what you want ... just doing that and drinking 2 litres of water a day will see you loose weight over 4 weeks ... even if you do nothing else .... Your breakfast sets your body up for the day ... have a good one and you'll eat reasonably sensible .. skip it .. or have a bad one and hardwired to make bad choices through out the day ..Anybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. The absolute number one reason I tend to ignore peoples advice is when they start telling me what I 'should' be doing.
Every body is different IMO and one thing that works for one wont for another. I tried a low carb diet as Fierce said and it made me miserable, grumpy and quick to snap. So I stopped.
Then when I tried moderation, I lost 4 stone in about 12 months a while back.
The last paragraph is good advice though. Small incremental changes are way better than a sudden change IMO.*Except Michael, who died.

One easy way to embark upon the road to weight loss, is to get a pedometer. The WHO suggest 10,000 steps per day, and it is not as straight forward as that to achieve. Start by seeing how active, or inactive you are and then slowly begin to raise the bar. Over a year ago I was averaging 4500 steps per day, I am now 12,000 with my new target being an average of 15,000.
I had to lose weight after finding out I was type 2 diabetic. I have also had to cut out all extraneous sugar (surprisingly easy to just give up sweet juice, sweets etc). I have ended up joining a gym and love excersizing now. I've lost 3kg's and ideally would shift an additional 9-10.
I agree with Alex, make achievable changes and piece by piece overhaul your lifestyle - doing it all at once is daunting. You can include the other things - but only include them as treats, not as part of your diet.Modifying post.

Most people are permanently dehydrated... because of that ... you body stores fat ... if people did just one thing ... drink lots of water ... 3 litres a day is optimal ... you'll shift weight and feel a lot better ... but utimately its calories in calories out ...... 75% of the time eat healthy real foods ... 25 do what you want .. excersise 3 to 4 times a week for an hour and you will be goldenOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostOne easy way to embark upon the road to weight loss, is to get a pedometer. Agree with LX about carb drops. If I don't eat enough carbs or protein I get huge drops on energy & get really grumpy. Happens with 2 of my closest mates as well- we all just act like stroppy toddlers, can't help it.
Some of my mates that have gone into BB competitions & crossfit mentalists reckon after a couple of weeks on fats not carbs you get your energy back, but it just isn't realistic given my blood sugar crashes.
I've dropped from 91.5k to 88.5 with all this swimming. I've probably lost a K of muscle though by not being able to squat or dead last few weeks post back injury.3rd place. Worst champions ever.

the 5-2 diet never really worked for me. I was doing it for the past year or so purely because I found it so easy, but it wasn't until I started monitoring my weight daily that I found that fasting was actually slowing up my weight loss.
I've actually found that any of my sustained diets are a bit of a waste of time after a while, so just doing no carbs for a max of 6 days before a holiday or after a large binging session seems to get me to my optimum weight and is a better approach. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
