Not this year. Barring a major upset its Nadals, Id expect Fed to do well maybe reaching the final once again, even though it wouldnt surprise me if he lost at the quarters/semis stage, Djokovic & Murray will do ok too but Nadal is as much a cert to win this as there can be in a sporting event.

Yeah i was thinking about finding somewhere to back him getting to the final without dropping a set.Originally posted by Duncan Jenkins View Postnadal will win it without dropping a set they might as well give it him now."These stories have as much relation to the truth as an egg to a chestnut." - Racing Santander President Francisco Pernia

Was it tiredness tho, or was it the fact that Federer, for possible the first time ever on clay, actually took the game to Nadal and attacked at every opportunity, rather than getting involved in long drawn out rallies?Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostFederer beats Nadal in straight sets to win the Madrid Open.
I know Rafa was tired after his marathon semi against Djokovic, but it's still a big, big win for Federer.
Personally, i thought some of Feds play was sublime there, mixed it up well with the backhand and his forehand was amazing at times.

Did I hear the match was best of three sets?
If so, what are the chances of Federer successfully attacking for three, four or even five sets, especially if he doesn't have such a big advantage in terms of freshness?
I know it's hardly going out on a limb but after yesterday's result I think Nadal is more likely than ever to win the French..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.
