Er, it's Lance Armstrong.
Golf is a game.
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

All of those apply to golf too.Originally posted by Scratch View PostNope, i'd rate Federer above Woods i think...golf is all about technique and metal fortitude, whereas tennis implements stamina, strength, ability, mental toughness, the ability to play back to back tournaments for the majority of the year
In golf there has traditionally been a far, far greater spread of tournament winners. It is harder to win a golf tournament than a tennis one - making Woods' incredible domination all the more remarkable. In golf you have to beat around 160 opponents. In tennis, you are required to beat no more than 7 opponents.
The fact Woods continues to beat so many opponents with such phenomenal regularity swings it clearly in his favour, IMO. His vanquished opponents - such as Els, Singh, Mickelson et al - have stacks of majors between them. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

They may apply, but not in such great ammounts...technique is key in golf, and being strong of mind...you don't have to be at the peak of physical fitness to be a great player tho...Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostAll of those apply to golf too.

In golf you have to beat 160 players...players of varying skill levels, wildcards, amatuers the like...in tennis, only the finest players make the grade, so you are constantly having to play one of the top players in the world, with varying styles to overcome. In golf, you play yourself, your own game, and what your opponents do should not affect your own game.
Tiger is a great, there's no doubt, but the only person who can beat Tiger is Tiger himself.
The people Fed hasvanquished also have many titles between them, on a multitude of surfaces, ranging from hard to clay, to grass and even carpet, each one requiring a different playing style. Fed is a master on all of them.
