Also, and I think you'll all agree this argument is compelling, golf is ****. Complete and utter ****.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
I've also played on wood and that was ludicrously fast.

They may apply, but not in such great ammounts...technique is key in golf, and being strong of mind...you don't have to be at the peak of physical fitness to be a great player tho...
In golf you have to beat 160 players...players of varying skill levels, wildcards, amatuers the like...in tennis, only the finest players make the grade, so you are constantly having to play one of the top players in the world, with varying styles to overcome. In golf, you play yourself, your own game, and what your opponents do should not affect your own game.
Tiger is a great, there's no doubt, but the only person who can beat Tiger is Tiger himself.
The people Fed hasvanquished also have many titles between them, on a multitude of surfaces, ranging from hard to clay, to grass and even carpet, each one requiring a different playing style. Fed is a master on all of them.
Not buying it at all. Particularly the last bit. "Titles" yes, "majors", no. Only Nadal. Any others are sporadic, like Djokovic. I can count at least 10 majors between the likes of Mickelson, Singh, Els and the other top players.
To be honest, as genuinely great and wonderful Federer is, I'm surprised anyone would argue a case for him against Woods. I smell a (pointless) poll coming on...
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
I love Federer & Woods as sportsmen but wouldnt say either were the Greatest Sportsmen ever. For me that accolade has to go to someone who has become bigger than the sport that made them, someone with charisma, style, attitude and who basically transcends sport.
For me there can be only one.
Step forward Cassius Clay aka Muhammed Ali, you sir are my winner.
