I'm really surprised at just how much Contador has improved his time trialling ability over the past few years.
Yes, and it's true that the Yellow Jersey gives you wings.

Yeah, I know what you mean but he was a cheat. Troubled genius, etc. Sad way to go though.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

          Cavendish wins again.

Hushovd still holding onto green though.

I miss Richard Virenque, he never took drugs.

            Comment

Oh f*ck, Virenque is a disgrace - his repeated denials on the Festina affair only to admit doping at the last minute was the sign of someone without any sense of morality (and also probably an indicator of how rife doping was).

Yet the French, being ludicrously blind to their undeserved national heroes' failings, still laud him as a great, he's a star of France 2's coverage and he endorses loads of products including, ironically given his own pharmaceutical consumption, vitamin supplements.

              Bloody stupid.

I'm pleased Di Luca's in the sh*t. Another one who has obviously been cheating for years. Trouble is there are so damned many.

Good win for Cavendish. The most successful British Tour rider ever.

It's good he's also stopped being quite so embarrassing about Hushovd. Maybe he's learning.

Should be a cracker, what a great stage for the penultimate day.

I don't see any change to 1st an 2nd, but it will be interesting to see if Lance can hang on to 3rd today and how Wiggins will cope with Ventoux.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Virenque's an idiot and has been portrayed like it since the infamous Festina affair.

Then why does he have commercial endorsements and an analyst's role on the prime French cycling channel?

Elsewhere maybe but in France they forgive him his 'idiocy.'

Much as we forgive you yours.

French people are a bit hypocritical IMO and he's a bit of a cult figure in France so he probably generates huge audiences when he's on screen. Still, he wasn't a bad rider.

But it's equally a mystery how can anyone listen to this idiot. I think he's on Eurosport isn't it? I much prefer watching France 2/3 than listening to Virenque on Eurosport.

He certainly was a co-commentator on French Eurosport but I'm sure I saw him this year on France 2's or, as you say, 3's warm-up show (not Village Depart which is shockingly bad).

A "howling wind" reported on Mont Ventoux.
