The beauty of being allowed one false start was the pressure it put you under next time. It added to the spectacle and the drama. How on earth is one and out a good thing? Made a mockery of the whole thing. No wonder no-one watches athletics anymore.

I suppose with the two false starts, someone would anticipate the gun and if timed right would get off to a flier, if timed incorrectly - they still had one more chance.

With the one false start you've got to wait for the gun otherwise you're out, i suppose it's more fair.

It was in to a minus 1.6 headwind though without a headwind that could well be under 9.80

Gutted for him today. I don't why but the way he took the biscuit in the first races made me believable we were in for something special today. It sounds stupid but he's such a massive name in the sport that I wouldn't be suprised if they looked into changing the rules back to 2 false starts and you're disqualified. Imagine if the same happened in the Olympic finals next year?

I think Bolt will be so gutted that I can see him going for it big time in the 200m.
