Fantastic documentary on the iPlayer - The Race That Shocked The World......all about the 100m final in Seoul in 1988. Highly recommended.

        Yeah I saw that. Brilliant.

It looks to me that at least 5 of those athletes were on drugs. The excuse that if they never got caught, then it proves they never took them just doesn't wash me at all.

And Carl Lewis. What a knob.
        Oh I don't know.

I used to completely idolise Carl Lewis and HATED Ben Johnson. Lewis is very bitter and arrogant about it all but I find it difficult to blame him.

Athletics then, especially sprinting, was ****in electric.

            Yeah, me too.

I didn't realise about the teeth braces. The steroids make your jaw grow bigger, so they needed braces to keep their teeth in line. And guess what, Lewis had braces.

It was electric, just like boxing used to be with Eubank, Benn, Watson, Tyson, Bruno, McGuigan et all.
            Oh I don't know.

Haha yeah, the braces. Linford Christie's attitude ****s me off, he got caught banged to rights and still laughs it off.

                  Good documentary.
I remember the race well, was well chuffed when Ben Johnson won

                  So Carl Lewis, drugs cheat?

Difficult to say isn't it, but its easy to leap to a conclusion.

That drugs testing guy at the end of the documentary was such a tease, he re-tested the participants samples from the 88 race and there was more of them with drugs in the system, but he didn't say who

With regard to Carl Lewis, it would not surprise me if he was, but he was/is one of the great Olympians, it wouldn't suit anyones agenda to out him as a drugs cheat (well maybe Ben Johnson )

Christie was always too arrogant. Got busted and still had the front to say he has nothing to prove.
I loved Lewis' grace against Johnson's pure power.

Christie was caught lifting a drug tester off the ground saying "YOU'RE going to test ME?! I'm Linford ****ing Christie!"

Didn't Daley Thomson get in bother for wearing a t-shirt outing Carl Lewis as gay?

Always preferred Carl Lewis, but he was just on different drugs

Coe v Ovett was an epic battle in the 80s. Then Steve Cram gatecrashed the scene and there was that little ginger fella with the tash.
