has anyone heard haye say anything complimentary about valuev. he strikes me as a bit ungracious.

To be fair other than commenting on his size there's not lot of complimentary stuff one could say about Valuev.

I get where you're coming from but I think he just has no respect for him, he is a bit of an embarassment for boxing, a circus freak show.
