who the **** cares. She won it three years on the trot (get it)

There have been many supposed "great" horses that have succumbed to the Cup.

        Shergar

In all probability the greatest 4 horses ever. Is it a coincidence they all begin with S

          what do you mean?

Im not a huge horse racing fan BTW.

All i know is the thing won the Melbourne ****ing Cup three times on the trot. Never been done before, and in all likely hood will never be done again.

There have been a truckload of super horses from all over the world that have tried to conquer Flemington with little success. The Diva

A handicapper is a lower class of racehorse than a Group-standard/Classic horse. Group races and classics are run off level weights, handicappers obviously run in handicaps, where the best horses are allocated the biggest weight to carry. Being a good handicapper is nowt to be ashamed of, but they're a lower class of race. As big as the Melbourne Cup is, it's only a handicap - like the Grand National over here.

If Makybe Diva ran in a Group race, she would get eaten alive.

It's a specialist race, meaning the horse wouldn't be very good at races less than say 2400 metres. Stayers generally don't have much acceleration, they run at a steady pace and last longer, that what Shaggy was referring to as a 'plodder'.

There's much more competition in races between 1200m to 1800m, that's where all the best horses normally run. The pace is much quicker and it's more difficult to emerge from the lot.

Aye...furlongs, furlongs! I like to use furlongs in real life too...like if someone asks me directions. "Yep no problem mate, it's about six furlongs down this road, turn right and it's literally a couple of lengths on your left".

Just look at Denman, a Gold Cup winner, he won the Hennessy (a handicap chase) a few weeks ago carrying a welter 11st 12lbs, a stone and a half more than the second placed horse!! What a Friend who finished 2nd then went on to win the Lexus Chase(grade 1 level weights) off 11st 10lbs. So in all probability What a Friend would be lucky to get within 30 lengths of Denman if they were running off level weights. That Hennessy victory for Denman was as impressive a performance by any horse you'll see over jumps or the flat.

If a horse with the calibre of Sea the Stars was to enter the Melbourne Cup the rest of the field would probably be in receipt of 2 st!

                          I see.

                          Well i still love her

Are there any group races here in Oz then, or is it only in the UK?

If the Melbourne Cup is an inferior race to these group races, why the hell is it so big The country literally stops still for this race. Seems a bit odd if there are other better races out there.

It's like the Grand National over here - it's the race that captures the public's heart, everyone has a bet and watches it, it's ****ing huge. But it's just a handicap.

Everywhere has Group races, it's the standard top class all over the world. Here are the Aussie Group races...

Shergar was indeed a fantastic horse, but as far as horse racing goes I hate the ****ing sport. They're pushed to the very limit for a bunch of c*nts like Michael Owen and Fergie and die in there 100's every year.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."
