I applied for closing ceremony, all the days of the indoor cycling, various atheltics, swimming, boxing and a couple of throw away volleyball tickets to the ****ing heats as it's held at Earls Court which is 20 minutes away from me.

I got? £46 = volleyball! The only good thing is, it means I haven't got to trek over to the arse end of east london

Can't help feeling a total anticlimax. Possible £4,000 ish and end up with £46.

Was on the london news that 2 people in London have tickets for the 100m. That is a joke. If people don't get better of odds of getting tickets in their own country when the olympics is held there, why not let some other ****ing country host it and let them waste millions instead.

not even sure what I've got yet - £246 taken from the account and no idea what that's actually for tbh!

Hopefully I've at least got the beach volleyball - mrs still thinks that one is a mixed day event, it's almost like she doesn't even know me

The athletics is split into two sessions each day. There are multiple events within a session.

The two people in London who have tickets for the Men's 100m final are newsworthy because they have come forward and announced that's all they applied for. Lots of other people will have got tickets for it too.

            I didn't though.

I can hardly believe I applied for so much and got absolutely nothing. I blame all these glory hunters who only got into cycling because of the success in Beijing. B*st*rds.

            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Should have been a fairer way to ensure those hardcore fans got the best chance to get tickets for their relevant events. For example, if you are a member of an athletics club, or cycling club you should get some kind of priority. Just a thought.

Thanks. A bit late now though.

I'm surprised there wasn't some mechanism meaning that people who had won tickets for a few events were effectively dropped from the lottery for the remaining ones. It just seems unfair some people applied for loads and got nothing and others applied for loads and got them all, or nearly all. (Obviously it's right that people who applied for just a few don't automatically get excluded from winning all of them as that would favour people who have the means to take a risk on spending, say, £4k on Olympics tickets, and that would be inequitable.)

I could probably get you into a couple of the training venues if you want?

Bit rubbish really though really, sorry.

Surely there was some kind of system in place like this?

Are you taking responsibility for the fiasco? I was going to blame Cameron, I mean Coe.

Thanks for the offer. I'm going to try the repechage/second chance thing and then we'll see.

I've just read they're going to block off large parts of Box Hill to spectators so few get to see the only hill of note on the road race route.

No, I think it was a straight lottery. A few got lucky and got everything they applied for, many got some and many more got nothing. Or worse, they got Graeco-Roman wrestling.

At least I was spared that. I should thank Richey probably, even though I didn't apply for the wrestling anyway.

                        It is so unfair.

One person applied for £33k worth of tickets and yet was still allocated £11k's worth!! FFS, surely someone at the organisers should have noticed how unfair this ticketing system is.

Yes it is. I applied for 2k worth of tickets and somehow managed to get 5k worth

There should have been some kind of AV ticketing system.

Nothing to do with me mate! I agree it was a mess though. I don't have a huge interest in going to the Olympics personally so if I get a chance to get any tickets I'll let you know. I'm not holding my breath though to be honest.

I will have access to some of the training venues for a few of the sports because they are in the town where I live but as I say, its hardly the most exciting prospect really is it?
