Just heard the statement Higgins had released in which he states he didnt know who these men where and as far as he was concerned they could have been russian Mafia. Im sorry but if i was in Kiev and some shady fellers asked me if i wanted to make some money by fixing a game i too would think they had gangster connections of some sort and i would tell them whatever they wanted to hear then get my arse back on a plane to the uk ASAP!

Scummy newspaper and it does look like John has been setup big time here.

But like has been said the atmosphere looks relaxed i the video so its hard to tell whats what.

The NOTW are scum and Higgings definitely looked relaxed on tape.

The one thing that makes me think he was up to no good was why the hell was he in the Ukraine in the first place straight after being knocked out of the world championship. A nice holiday away with his manager? Surely if it was a case of going on holiday to recharge his batteries he would have just gone some place without his manager in tow???

And even if it was a set up and he was scared of it being the Russian mafia, he would have called Barry Hearn straight away after to let him know what he had to say.

Sorry John, I hate the NOTW and you're a great snooker player but as Ricky Gervais says to Karl Pilkington - "You're talking Bollocks".

Exactly. If he had found himself in that situation where he genuinely said what they wanted to hear through fear of his own safety, he would have come back and told Hearn all about it.

Aparrently so Shaggy a few articles have suggested. It was along the lines that he went to the Ukraine straight after his defeat to Steve Davis.

Hes ****ed and rightly so but the whole set up is not right and to be fair by elaborately setting up a situation like this it causes innocent people to become greedy. Its all bollocks and they have just ruined this mans life and the reputation of the sport.

I ****ing hate the press and operations like this should be banned and not admissible for publication.

They can say what they want about Higgins not having thrown a match in his career, but the way he explained about it being easy to do...telling them how he could just miss the pocket by a touch and make it look ok..."easy", almost as if he 'knew' he could do it with no suspicion aroused, it just sounded so casual when he explained, no problem...the only issue he had was how to "swallow" the cash.

I won't be betting on Snooker again put it that way.

I heard that he'd denied admitting it And that link doesnt contain anything anymore.

                      All very mysterious.

Worked earlier. How odd. They seem to have withdrawn the article

Looks like "Sky Sports sources" have got it wrong AGAIN!

I heard a report going out saying he'd admitted it - and then heard that this was being denied.

I bet Jenkins was delighted with that second story
