    It's Nadal's game and the rain IMO only helps Nadal. The bounce might not be as high, but it ruins Federers only chance in the game and that is to keep the points short by aggressive attacking. The ball is slower so Nadal will run down even more balls now.

    Looks like a straight three setter.

      Fed has played very well today in parts - Nadal is just so consistent though.

            He's been helped by the rain, told you so. Each time he's played Nadal on clay he's had massive problems with those high balls. Nadal knows how to play him, even at Wimbledon and due to the fact it's dryer and less quick than it was, it helps him. Then there's confidence, it's as if he's found it all of a sudden, his game is flowing again.

                  consistency of Nadal is just amazing it really is, Fed got hot from time to time but he couldn't keep to that level.

                    I think Nadal will break his records, he is phenomenal. His intensity throughout a game like this is fantastic. Any other player would have been trounced by Federer today, as he played well.

                      you could be right, 10 slams and just turned 25 is amazing - Fed is still the GOAT at the moment but Nadal if he continues like this for a few more years will go past him.

                      And as you said Fed didn't play badly today and would have won it if it was anyone other than Nadal.

                        I doubt that Nadal will break Federer's record. Djokovic will win a lot more GS and Del Potro is also on the way back to the top.

                        Nadal will probably continue to pick up injuries because of his playing style.

                        I can see Del Potro dominate the game in two years time. He already started to dominate before his bad injury.

                          del potro! He got to world number 4 and won 1 slam - in no way did he ever "start" to dominate!!

                          Djokovic will win more slams and Murray might even grab one (Aus or US most likely) but Nadal will certainly get close to Fed injuries permitting.

                            He won the US Open 2009 and got to the final in The Masters the same year.

                            He started to dominate before his injury.

                            Time will tell if he can start doing it again.

                              That's not dominating it's being reasonably consistent but not dominating - 2009 for instance had Nadal out injured for a large part of it and Fed won both the French and Wimbledon that year.

                              Del Potro's a good player but as you said time will tell if he can get back to his best or not.

                                Players with Nadal's playing style normally don't stay on top for that long, and he will probably start going downhill in a couple of years. It will be close for him to beat Federers number, but not impossible. Federer though could still have a couple of wimbledons in him.

                                As soon as the next young guy that can outrun Nadal comes a long, then he will have a hard time winning what he does today, and physically it's a hard game Nadal plays. Will be interesting to see how far he takes it.
