I wonder if he will bow out after the 5th test?
Not sure. I certainly can't see him being there for the next Ashes, so it would make sense for Australia to start looking forward to that series and who will be captain for it.

Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Craigy im here! I have had people around for lunch today so I have been busy all morning! If cricket was at a low point in Australia then I would hate to see it now! Good thing for Australian Football but, more kids want to be Tim Cahill rather than Adam Gilchrist now.

Must be really hard to take for him. Great player, only a decent captain but left to carry the can when all the other great players retired which has been a bit unfair on him.

I'm not so sure that it is as bad as people make out. Happens all the time in other sports. I like the fact they clamp down on it hard in cricket, if nothing else it is a waste of time. Not convinced that it's 'a disgrace' though.

What was a disgrace though was whinging to the press that we're not gentlemen because we didn't take his word and walk when he took a questionable catch and the very next day a ball nicking his glove and he refused to walk. Total hypocrisy.

Correct. He's a ultimate battler, will expect others to be honourable but like **** will he be the same. It is hypocrisy but for the good of the team, not that that excuses it.

Jokers on Five Live this morning were likening national cricket to national football and how both are poles apart. They reckoned that county cricket is dead and is watched by 'one man and his dog'. What a load of cock. The reason cricket is flourishing is that they can alter the format while keeping the faces the same. 20,000+ at the Oval on a friday evening is hardly 'one man and his dog'.

1st day could be off tomorrow at sydney. Its raining pretty hard here and there is thunder about. Hopefully it will clear off soon enough so the ground can dry out for tomorrows start if of play.

Might as well call it off for the sake of the hosts.

Looks like you called it right. Forecast is cloudy with posible light rain for most of the day interspersed with lunch time thunderstorms.

At least it should help secure a series win for us Poms.

Could be a cracking toss to lose. I want some more early wickets.

Yup listening to Strauss and Simon Hughes on TMS there ought to be something for the seamers first up.

Let's hope we make the most of the conditions.
