Nah, the problem is the selectors.

The team became so successful to lose became unthinkable.

Players started to get old and head towards retirement and they kept playing every match, a new generation of players wasn't trained or brought through to get exposure of the international game.

And when they did finally get the retirements they were left with no choice but to patch and mend.

This is now coming back and biting them on the arse big time and it may be quite a while until they recover.

No wonder he's not fussed about cricket at the moment.

If that's true, then obviously neither of them are fussed about the other relationships and children being involved, either.

You will all be glad to hear that other competing sports such as Football are taking over.

Apparently this song will be unleashed by the Barmy Army in Perth. To 'Don't Look Back in Anger'.

                  Slip inside Ricky Ponting’s mind
                  He’s trying to find
                  Some new players to play

He wants to play his older team
                  But that’s just a dream
                  They’re too old to play

He said he’d start a revolution in his head
But he’s been through all the players A to Z
Now there’s just a summertime of doom
If he loses the Ashes race
He is going to lose his place
Losing three would simply tear his heart out

                  So Ricky can wait
                  Shane Warne is too late
                  And there’s no Glenn McGrath
                  Gilchrist’s had his day
And don’t look back to Langer
                  He cannot play
                  Modifying post.

We've gone back to the same sort of situation we had in the 80s where Chappell, Marsh and Lillee all pulled the pin at once. Everyone in the years that followed said 'never let that happen again' cos it stuffed us for nearly 10 yrs but through complacency/lack of foresight it's been allowed to happen again. And the selectors aren't helping matters ... they seem quite happy to adopt the style of selecion policy England had for basically 15 years. And we all know how successful that was for you blokes

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

They aren't, no, but I don't think your ex legends are helping by coming out and slating the selectors either. Sure, it's a fact, but with morale at it's lowest to have the guys you look up to come out and say you don't deserve your place can't be helping.

Not to mention your fans are being so bad Kerry O'Keefe is on the radio begging 'em to get off their arse, get to the ground and support because the barmies are turning every match into a home tie.

The selectors have caused this, but I don't think there's many people in any quarter helping things much.

I knew there'd be massive fall out if we could win this, but never expected it to get this bad, this quick, when it's still all to play for.

As a long suffering pom in Oz I'm viewing it with great glee, the amount of stick I've taken from Aussies over the years I couldn't take it any other way, but despite this I do actually hope we get some nice close matches to keep things interesting.
