Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I actually ended up going out with the kids instead of watching today after the first hour. I dunno how the Aussies coped when they were dominating everyone, it gets boring very quickly watching your side bat for 2 days.
From the lack of posts on here guessing I'm not the only one who feels that way.
Hopefully we'll have a nice early declaration when we get to a 400 run lead (lol, 346 run lead after day 2. Nuts!) and we can watch our bowlers have at 'em again.

I think they'll want a lead of over 500 and around 2½ days to bowl them out.
Weather conditions might affect the calculation though. If there is due to be any cloud cover tomorrow afternoon they might be well advised to take advantage of it to try to make inroads into the top order..

Thanks. Last I heard was it was going to start warming up but that was prediction was from a day more ago.Originally posted by Fernandinho View PostA Cyclone is due for QLD in the next few days which will affect the weather all the way down the east coast which could create rain and high winds in melbourne.
Any idea on when this bad weather is due to reach Melbourne?.

How about the Australian Bureau of Meteorology?
Morning cloud tomorrow, sunny Wednesday and partly cloudy Thursday.
Definitely grasping
Morning cloud tomorrow sounds like an early declaration is warranted but.Last edited by EwarWoo; 27-12-10, 02:31 PM.

Or Edward Heath's yacht has returned.Originally posted by EwarWoo View PostMorning cloud tomorrow sounds like an early declaration is warranted but.
They haven't batted Australia out of the game yet so they're not going to declare first thing. If they did, and didn't break through then they'd be in a position where they'd have to worry about Australian run scoring and they might even have to bat again on the fifth day. If weather conditions change unexpectedly then they could ludicrously find themselves in trouble.
Safety first - get a lead of five or six hundred and give themselves six and a half or seven sessions to bowl out Australia with men all round the bat..

So this "drop in pitch" they're using at the MCG. I thought I understood the whole concept of a drop in pitch in test match cricket, but apparently down under it means something entirerly different ....
......a pitch where the Aussie batsmen drop in, say hello, then promptly depart again...!!!
