apparently a lot of golfers have gone pretty nuts at williams.

I've also heard that Williams was very generous and donated 90% of his winnings to Adam Scott and that Williams is 5/2 to win the at the weekend

Steve Williams says sorry for interview: "emotions poured out and got the better of me. I apologize to my fellow caddies and professionals"

such a shame - ever since his car crash and wife finding out he's been hanging out of the back of expensive hookers he's just not been the same player.

really hope he gets fit and finds his golf again

He's $401 to win the PGA, prob the highest price to win a tournament at any point in his career.

Yeah while it is nice to see different players winning tournaments, It would be great to see a fit Tiger back at his best.

have to say in one of the other threads about woods - i got it totally wrong...

I thought, whilst he will struggle at first after all the ****e broke out - he would after a few months getting back into it whilst maybe not burst onto the scene like he did first time round....he'd certainly make an impact and be there or there abouts in most tournements and easily in the top 10 - Never thought he'd come back and wipe the floor with everyone every week - but really thought he'd have a couple of tour wins, come close in a major etc

But he looks ****ing shot...and i just don't see him ever getting it back again - i heard yesterday that he was 3 under through 5......And then played the next 13 holes 10 over par!! - 10 over for 13 holes shocking

Yep, at one point was +8 in 8 holes.

I also thought he'd come back to near his very best, at this stage it looks a long way off.

Time for him to just retire and stop embarrassing himself?

Painful to watch last night. Those two consecutive double bogeys were unbelievable, especially that horrible snap hook/pull straight back into the trees after he'd played out sideways.

Williams claims race row 'blown out of proportion'

Steve Williams still doesn't know what all the fuss is about. Yesterday the caddie who last week called his former employer, Tiger Woods, "that black arsehole", told a reporter he believes the race row has been blown out of all proportion.

Williams talked to The Sydney Morning Herald journalist after his reconnaissance of The Lakes Golf Club there, where his new boss Adam Scott will line up against Woods in this week's Australian Open. "He is stunned by the reaction to what he said at a fun evening. Blown out of all proportion might sum up his reaction," wrote Peter Stone.

Scott felt obliged to ask Williams to issue an apology in the morning following the racist remarks he made on stage at a caddie awards ceremony here on Friday night. At breakfast, a few hours before his scripted contrition on his website, Williams expressed disbelief to an American journalist who had informed him the story was in the public domain. "Why did they [the journalists] do that?", he said. "The whole thing was meant to be fun."

Despite issuing a statement yesterday saying "there is absolutely no room for racial discrimination in any walk of life", Scott maintained he would not dismiss Williams. "I have discussed this matter directly with Steve and he understands and supports my view," said the Australian. "I also accept Steve's apology, knowing that he meant no racial slur."

That is a belief shared by Greg Norman. Scott's countryman will lead the International team into battle against America in next week's Presidents Cup in Melbourne. And the two-time major winner sees no problem in Woods being pitted against his ex-caddie. Said Norman: "We've all made stupid comments at stupid times."
