now that is a bit of a joke, he lashed out but certainly didn't mean to kick the line judge.

What a complete waste of police time.

Maybe, but its pretty hard to argue that he couldn't foresee that ****ting a board that's standing a couple of inches from someone's legs could cause some injury, and I don't think being overwhelmed by frustration is much of a defence. I'm sure he didn't mean to hurt the line judge, but it was reckless at best.

It was reckless but looking to charge him for assault is ridiculous.

I think the line judge deserved it.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

yes, but the police have received a complaint. They can't just ignore it, and rightly so. If he's no case to answer, then so be it.

I'd imagine the line judge has realised or been advised he could make a few quid out of this.

It can be the only reason, probably best he retires from being a line judge as clearly he'll be worried he might be assaulted again

I'd imagine he has been left massively, massively traumatised by the whole affair which is having a massively negative impact on his life. He will, however, agree to come to some kind of compromise 'settlement' with Nalbandian and never mention the whole sorry episode again
