nieve from Ortiz there, not great from Mayweather either but it's boxing and nothing surprises me in boxing anymore!

It was harsh, but he taught him a lesson. He had him under control. Ortiz was wild and losing focus, Mayweather was a class apart again. Mayweather is a total prima donna though, the way he reacts at the interview was ridiculous. How could he not expect to be questioned after that, it was like he wanted to gloss over the fact he belted him with a huge shot when his hands were down and the ref was looking away.
He was always going to win, but the means were very dodgy. But, he was magnificent before that.

Nothing technically wrong with what Mayweather but it's bad sportsmanship - he knew Ortiz had his hands down and was apologising. Just like in football if an opposition player is down injured and they don't kick the ball out technically nothing wrong but still not good sportsmanship.
Saying that though it was a disgusting headbutt from Ortiz so you can understand why Floyd done it.
Why is Joe Cortez still refereeing he's been a ****ing disgrace for years - he's worse for boxing than Webb is for football.

Lets be honest here how many times did Ortiz want to apologize and kiss Mayweather? As soon as the Ref gave the signal to fight Ortiz should have been ready to fight but he went to apologize again having touched gloves. Yes, people can say it was a cheap shot but like as been said "protect yourself at all times". People calling Floyd a disgrace are going way other the top.
The Larry Merchant interview wasn't good by Floyd but do you know what, I've followed Mayweather for years and the Merchant and Mayweather clash has been brewing for a long time. Anyone will tell you that. He constantly takes cheap shots at Mayweather during interviews, calling him boring and not giving him the respect his talent deserves. It's not the first time they have clashed but it's probably the worst.
Floyd got hit a few times today which was to be expected as he's been out of the ring for 16 months and fights a different style against southpaw fighters. What excited me is he backed up what he said before the fight and that was to keep coming forward even against a big puncher and aggressor like Ortiz. He said and did the same against Mosley. I personally think it's a myth Mayweather can only fight on the outside. For me I am disappointed it ended early as I reckon we was on the verge of seeing yet another Mayweather masterclass. His reflexes still look sharp, countered Ortiz at will, put some good combinations together which we haven't seen for a while and clearly frustrated Ortiz.
I am interested to see what Mayweather's next move is. Khan was in the studio and said he thinks he's got Mayweather number. He said he's getting hit more than he's used to and believes you need to fight Mayweather at his own game by being patient. Whilst I think Khan would test Mayweather, I'd expect him to adapt in the ring after a couple of rounds and school Khan.
