    THE Open

Bad timing with the holidays this year, I travel on the 13th July. I will not be able to watch it

Should be a great event and hopefully another non american winner, extending to 6 majors in a row

I have backed Rory McIlroy £100 ew at 6's and Henrik Stenson £50 ew at 50's

I go away on the 15th - which is a week later than last year (when I missed the Open) - but I'll miss it again FFS. Thought I'd get away with it what with putting the hols back by a week.

Also it should be called The Open. 'British Open' is for Yanks.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I had the yankees in mind as we have a few of the hillbillies in here. I was torn between the British Open and the Real Open

It was a shame it wasnt a event where players from this country could only participate in it, then I could have called it a world championship or world series

If the one of the modular gimps would be so gracious to change the title to "The Open" I would appreciate it

Shaggy, are you having a flutter?

I have to admit I considered Garcia, but I think losing the play off last week will work against him

I know how you feel man i had a holiday booked in 2007 and it clashed with the Ryder cup. Was gutted to miss it and looked everywere for a pub showing it but couldn't find one. Will be a cracking open with Rory winning it imo

I was reading this a few days ago on Rory's website

Then it's all attention to the next major, the Open Championship at Royal St Georges. I've played there quite a few times as an amateur - in the Home Internationals and also the British Amateur and I really like the golf course. I'm going down there to practice on the Thursday and Friday of the week before the Open to get acclimatised whilst it's relatively quiet. I'll then come home for the weekend and return to Sandwich on the Tuesday.

So that's it from me and I'll report in again after the Open Championship.

                Rory.

I said I'd keep backing Westwood til he wins one, as I think he'll win one sooner rather than later.

I actually fancy Rory again too, but as I won't be seeing any of it I won't be having a punt. Maybe leave a little bet on Westy as I'd be sick if he won it and I'd not backed him.

Like I say, I think Donald has the short game to succeed on a links course. Isn't there a warm up event in Scotland this week? Next week will be hot and the courses down here are tinder dry even with the rain of the last couple of weeks. Kent's east coast gets a fair amount of wind off the channel too. Not sure any of the current crop of Americans have the game to win other than Stewart Cink maybe but Louis Oosthuizen has certainly showed he likes playing over here.

Outside bet I reckon Brandt Snedeker

                        I'll be backing Sergio again
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

                          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I do admire your loyalty fella

Looks like I will still be unemployed for this, so I'm planning to watch every single second
