Top footballers will say they train hard every day but they're guaranteed a massive salary every month. I also feel oddly patriotic and quite proud of these people. Bragg's comments are spot on, it's brilliant.
Spot on...was about to post the same...I love football, footbal then golf and the cricket are MY sports....but this is something else...these guys seem, how can I put it, more 'human' in their attitude, personalities, ethics etc but yet what they do is more super human....it puts football to shame....every singgke interview I have seen by a British athlete, whether they have blown away the field and won gold or they struggled and finished last, they've all killed themselves doing it and have been completely humble about it....it's a ****ing joy to see...

I defo wasn't one of the many scecptics who where saying" London...olympics...meh..****e blah blah" but I certainly was not expecting to feel like this

Recognition they already have mate by virtue of their gold medals and becoming role models for the population at large. We all know that they way the honours system work as a whole is not true recognition of someone's hard work or success.

Haha the best is when u see a few of them struggling and they do a tiny little jog to get back into it and then some official throws ipuomhos flag as a warning haha..up there as one of the more ridiculous Olympic events

in two days we will see the GB vs. Iceland in handball, the pundits said today that there was growing interest in the sport in Britain, I hope that is true, your team is on the up as well it seems. IF Iceland wins the gold, it would smash the medals per millions we would have about three then
                  * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Ive had a gob on over the London games for ages over the cost and the fact its so London centric. However I love the Olympics and ejnoyed every minute of it, its odd how you can become attached to someone you didnt know existed 5 minutes before their event and have so much emotional investment in them. Also the fact these peoples lives are focused on this one event is unlike football where something else big is just around the corner, or 12 months away, explains the emotion of it all to them.

thing is that the games are awarded to a city not a country. It would be a farce having the athletes staying and competing all over the country. London is the best and most able to cope with that volume of people. Most iconic too, it just would not have worked anywhere else.

I normally really struggle with the Olympics, hardly watched any of the last one. Totally been swept away with this one. Its been awesome.

I've always been an athletics fan, always loved the Olympics but this is on another level. Got into other sports I would never have entertained before - mainly cycling - and our success has been inspirational. Woke up this morning and the first thing I thought was not "hooray I'm going to see Blur tonight", but "wow, last night was ****ing amazing, I'd better get up and get stuff done before Murray starts".
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
