8000 runners in the torch relay:
    • 6800 members of the public
    • 1200 corporate sponsors

The torch relay is a load of cack in my opinion but, even so, it's taking the p*ss.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

      Sponsors Vs Public Money

      You decide.
      Oh I don't know.

The primary thing I object to is the hypocritical way it was sold to us.

But still, unfortunately you're presenting a choice that has never existed. The lies about the Olympics have been used to justify spending somewhere between £9billion and £12billion, depending on whose figures you choose to believe.

It's like the hot air about the legacy, of getting millions of extra people into sport. It isn't happening - in fact, the reverse is true.

I was quite enthusiastic at first but it just seems to have turned to sh*t. It's four times over budget, lots of promises haven't been kept, they're introducing social segregation in the road system, it feels like Olympic ideals have been perverted by corporate greed, etc...

I freely admit my growing antipathy to it has been compounded by disappointment over my failure to get tickets for the cycling.

                I thought so.

I enjoyed the torch coming down my high street. It was an event that brought everyone out in a way I've never seen around here. The fact that we saw it for 3 seconds was irrelevant.
                Oh I don't know.

What do you mean, "you thought so"?

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the relay. I'll be away when it comes through here. I can't say I'm too bothered, just a bit disappointed that I won't be around to carry out my plan of changing the slogan on the Serco ads that have recently appeared on a roundabout the torch will pass.

The sale of our public space is repulsive. Price of everything and value of nothing.

The ongoing disappointment at missing out on cycling tickets of course.
                    Oh I don't know.
