I realised this morning I'd booked cinema tickets for tonight and will miss the opening ceremony.
Then again I've never watched an opening ceremony before so I suppose it means I'm consistent in my bah/humbug attitude.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I arranged weeks ago that I wouldn't be visiting my mum this weekend because I want to watch the race, even though she's just been in hospital..
