Yes. Anyone who bothered to read the previous page.

    15:07:30 - 2 - Bradley Wiggins (Great Britain)
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

He's second last out on the schedule. Some time after 3 i think.

        Oops, missed that.

Brilliant, I'm really quite excited. I see he's unbeaten in time trials this year.

How come Cavendish isn't in this? If he's so fast?
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

It should take about 52-53 minutes, if it's dry. So we can expect the result shortly after 4.

I feel like one of those ****s who doesn't like or watch football ever, but then gets into it during the World Cup. Those people annoy me.

But still...**** it. I'm getting really interested in it. I was at a party on Sunday and I spent more time talking about cycling than any other subject

He's a sprinter, so he's good over short bursts but doesn't do sustained power like Wiggins or Cancellara or Martin or Phinney.

One thing about cycling that's different from running is that you can recover while riding, so long as you're not doing a great effort. That's why Cavendish is able to ride 250km and then sprint like he's just started. But if you ask him to ride 25km as fast as possible on his own and then sprint, he won't have the energy to do anything like the same performance.

You do seem to be changing your mind about it a lot.

How do these Rowers not Zig Zag all the way down the course? They are arrow straight.

I was at a party last year and even managed to bore someone who is really into cycling. And I was aware of it but still didn't care because I was enjoying talking about it so much.

WARNING: You might find today a bit boring. And disappointing if anyone is significantly ahead of Wiggins and Froome at the first time check.

And even if either of them is significantly ahead, you can't tell how others might finish. Some riders tend to put down the same effort all the way - Wiggins tends to do that. But others might ride at 99.9% for the first half and then go for it in the second half. Cancellara rode the opening prologue time trial in the Tour like that, and won.

A prologue is much shorter - less than 8km - so strictly speaking isn't a comparable test to today. But Cancellara is possibly the greatest road TT specialist ever so don't be surprised if he or Martin (current world champion in the TT) beats Wiggins today, even if he is on top form.

I thought with this being a comparatively short distance that it would qualify as a sprint.

It's amazing that he can ride for 250km and effectively be fresh at the end for a mad sprint.

Yes. I didn't understand it during the road race but I've read a lot since and spoken a lot about it - it's really pretty fascinating.

I've got one but it's been in the shed untouched for ten years, and it's now rusty and *completely covered* in spider's webs and, er, spiders.

But yes I've been thinking about getting a new one at some point in the future

Sprints are about 200-300m. They're going really fast for several km before that but the sprinters aren't flat out until then.

Cavendish can do a very fast time trial as part of a team (because you take turns to lead the line into the wind so the rest of the time you can recover in the slipstream of your teammates) and is good over short distance time trials. He wanted to do the team pursuit on the track which is 4km but the governing body's rules wouldn't let him.
