Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

What does that mean? They decreased the number of men's.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostThey did increase the number of women's events though
Cycling isn't protected (unlike athletics - fair enough - and swimming - yawn) so the IOC refused to increase the number of medals available across the cycling disciplines, despite the inclusion a few years ago of BMX and mountain biking and the need to equalise events between men and women..

The UCI also tried to stop British domination by limiting the number of entries to one rider per event per nation. The result was a far weaker competition - five of the current top ten sprinters were not competing in the men's individual sprint.
Imagine if last night's 100m had featured only one Jamaican and one American.
