"I won't support the Irish football team again until staunton is sacked"

What a stupid comment to make, I for one will support team at Croke Park, I dont particularly like Stauton as a manager but I support my country regardless of the manager.

You really should cop yourself on !!

Not really fair not to support the players is it? It's not their fault.

Not likely mate - I've not missed a home international in 15 years and its a 10 hr round trip for me to go see them

I see Eth's point, why should he make such effort and pay as much to watch the team play, when he doesn't think the same effort is being matched by the team and management?

there is nothing there to support - San Marino - its plain to see - The only way we can get shot of Staunton and hopefully Deleany is if the pressure is on them to go - Staunton should not have got the job - I've said that all along - Neither should Kerr have got the job - the numpties in the FAI are in dreamland. Its for the sake of our up coming players that we need to get shot of the clowns that are there now if we have any chance in the future and ye it that bad.

Nope, there's a difference between deciding to not make the trip and not supporting the team. Or even, as he says, to support the opposition.
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

No, we will have to agree to disagree on this. He is voting with his feet. If he feels that if enough people stop giving the FAI money and less actually go to the games, that it will force changes, then that is his opinion and one that makes sense if you are unhappy with the direction the team seems to be going in.

Well, the way I read it is that he's supporting the Welsh, and that he won't support Ireland until Staunton is gone. Maybe he'll clarify.

If he doesn't want to spend the money and make the (extremely long) trip that fair enough, I wouldn't blame him. It's his money and time. But to say he's supporting the Welsh, well that's a different story.

I can clarify that the FAI will get my money anyway as I have been block booking tickets for years - I will go to croke park - I won't be cheering for Wales but I will not be cheering for any side managed by Steve Staunton - I am also a member of the FAI Irelandfans programme and I have personally written to them stating my personal dis-satisfaction with the current set up and the future direction of the team under this misfit. I'll say it again - my view on the matter is that I would prefer Ireland to lose the game against Wales as a win will only continue allow Staunton to stay in his position. if you look at the bigger picture of Irish football and indeed the mess of the eircom league which they've only taken over and made a sham of already you will see that the hope and glory of winning the big game in croke park will only serve to have a negative impact to football in Ireland.

Maybe you should "meet" Stan in the tunnel.

Well, fair enough. I guess your entitled to do as you please.
Couldn't do the same myself, ie. I could never wish Ireland to lose.
We do have a joke of a manager and the FAI should be held fully accountable as they hired him. I don't think that any result against Wales (or Slovakia) will secure his job.
I figure it's a matter of who do we get in. There's not too many good Irish managers out there.
Hang on, d'ya reckon Roy would take the job?
