Briggs got the win last night, and boy did he leave it late.
The Referee called the fight at 2:59 in the 12th round.
Briggs was well behind going into the 12th round and needed a stoppage. Near the end he got a knockdown, and when Liakhovich got up, Briggs unloaded again, and Liakhovich went through the ropes.
Was not a good fight though, was quite boring until the end, Liakhovich's gameplan was to avoid being hit, and Briggs' seemed to be trying not to run out of gas from the 5th onwards.
Still it was nice to see Briggs win a belt though. I would expect him to get a huge media boost across the Atlantic now, him being the only American to hold a belt will have the Yanks talking him up like the second coming for a bit.
