I wish they would take the organisation of the fights out of the hands of the fighters. There should be a third party responsible for it - the same as in pretty much every other sport. And you'd never get to the ridiculous stage we're at now with Manny and Mayweather. They should have fought years ago - neither one can possibly be in their prime at this age.

The viewing figures for boxing are on the slide, and boxing only has itself to blame really.

Agree with the first bit, something needs to be done, to many who wont take risks, petty grudges like between Goldenboy and Arum etc.

Dont agree with the second bit though, dont think theres anything wrong with the viewing figures, not on the slide from what I've read.

Perhaps you're right mate. I'm going on my gut feeling really, and obviously with Sky cancelling PPV - they've not done that out of the goodness of their hearts. 2+2 maybe making 5 for me on this one.

I think the PPV thing was just fans getting ****ed off having to pay for it all the time, there was Amir Khan v nobodies, Frank Warren domestic cards, David Haye in mismatches etc etc, theres hardly ever been a competitive, world class card on there and eventually people had enough.

It'll no doubt be back if something is big enough in the future. Hopefully not Haye v Klitschko!

The ironic thing about Sky PPVs is that they only tend to have British fighters on them.

Had Sky won the rights to Pac vs JMM lll it'd have been on 'normal' Sky yet a domestic bill with Cleverly, DeGale and Mitchell would be deemed PPV worthy.

Be interested to see how Warren's Box Nation does. It gets encrypted this weekend. Just in time for Cotto vs Margo grrrrr

Yeah its weird, Manny Pacquiao or whatever on normal sky yet you are expected to pay to watch Enzo Maccrinelli, James Degale and co? No ta!

I struggle to see how it does well to be honest, setanta was only getting figures of 10k - 14k for Cotto fights and that was with loads of people like me who only subscribed to the channel because of football. And domestic fights on sky get 100k - 190k. Just not sure where all these buyers will come from, especially in a climate where people are trying to cut their bills not add another £10!

But he obviously knows far more about this than me and hasnt just started it for no reason, I just struggle to see how the figures stack up though and would be surprised if it gets more than 20k subscribers which is only 200k a month.

Are they running Adverts on that channel? Id guess they would pay decent to be inbetween rounds? Because even if its 20,000 subscribers. There is more likely to be 4 times that watching. Probably more.
                *Except Michael, who died.

It's a shame cos it's not now the fight it would've been 2-3 years ago. Money would be on, er, 'Money', but I'd love Manny to destroy him.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

What makes me laugh is before floyd got sentenced, Arum said Manny's eye wouldn't have healed in time for a May 5th fight. However, as soon as Floyd was sentenced to 90 days in jail, Arum came out and said May 5th is a possibility for Manny especially if it's a fight with Marquez. Low and behold now that Floyd's jail terms been postponed, Arum changed his tune once again and is now saying that May 5th is not possible as he needs to find a temparary venue which will hold 40,000. He also went on to say that Manny would need to get his eye checked but he should be ready to fight in June. He know's full well that a fight inJ une is very unlikely due to the agreement Floyd has with the judge. He has to hand himself in on June 1st. I wish Manny would grow a set and tell Arum it's Mayweather on May 5th an no-one else. It's clear his team don't want the fight.

All sides have been pathetic and all come out of it looking like dickheads. One of the dullest saga's in sporting history.

The only fighter who is the biggeest threat to Floyd's undefeated record is Sergio Martinez at 154. At 160 Floyd would be asking for trouble. I don't think the fight will ever happen though unfortunately, and it's because it won't sell. Outside of your hardcore boxing fans no-one actually knows who Martinez is or how good he really is. He's a very good boxer despite his under par performance in his last fight. His style would make it a very difficult fight for Floyd. I'd be very worried if Mayweather fought him.
