Sports Personality of the year 2011

    Contenders are

    Mark Cavendish (cycling)
    Darren Clarke (golf)
    Alastair Cook (cricket)
    Luke Donald (golf)
    Mo Farah (athletics)
    Dai Greene (athletics)

No women on the list but I cant really think of any that deserve to be on

Also I didn't know the shortlist was made up from voted by the press

0854 SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR: BBC Sport's Simon Austin on Twitter: "SPOTY shortlist decided by votes from major publications. Manchester Evening News put forward Yaya Toure, Dimitar Berbatov and Patrick Vieira."

      Chazza = antimatter Bender
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

              It should be Cavendish.

First ever British winner of the green jersey in the Tour de France.

Yet another five TdF stage wins. It's becoming routine which is mad.

The fastest man in the world.

Britain's first world road race champion since 1965 (when Tom Simpson won it, so earning him the Sports Personality award that year).

More personality in his little finger than the rest of them put together.

                Cavendish or Khan for me.

                Andy Murray?

What's Khan done this year? Genuine question as I haven't got a clue

Rory won a major didn't he? And he's somehow managed to pull that Liverpool supporting female tennis player. Kudos to him for both of those, so I'd probably vote for him.

                    Oh I don't know.

Didn't Khan beat Maidana this year and then defend his title rather impressively against Zab Judah? And become No.1 light welterweight in the world.

Khan?! Come on, he beat a mediocre Maidana and a shot to pieces Zab Judah who only turned up for the payday.

Mcilroy should get it for shagging Wozniacki

If you can nominate Andy Murray why not World Champion Rebecca Adlington?

I agree with the old dog. Cavendish.
I’m the showstopper, the headliner, the main event, the icon that is the Heartbreak Kid
