    The 6 Nations thread

England continue their World Cup form.

Delon Armitage has been suspended from the England Saxons Elite Player Squad following his detention by Devon and Cornwall Police early on Sunday morning after a nightclub incident in Torquay.

Along with other players, the London Irish full back was released from the England Saxons camp following their win over the Irish Woflhounds at Sandy Park Exeter on Saturday evening.

Armitage was later arrested in Torquay on suspicion of assault following an altercation in a nightclub, interviewed and then released on police bail.

“We take issues surrounding the behaviour of England players very seriously and as such have decided to suspend Delon from the Saxons EPS pending the result of the police inquiry. We will then consider if further action is appropriate under the EPS Code of Conduct, " said England interim coach Stuart Lancaster.

“High standards of behaviour are required from England players on and off the field, and they also need to understand that they should not put themselves in a potentially vulnerable position or environment.”

Lancaster, who will be in charge of England for the first time this week when they play Scotland in the Six Nations, has already been faced with the disicplinary problem posed by Danny Care's drink driving conviction earlier this month.

On that occasion he chose to drop the talented Harlequins scrum-half for the duration of the championship and should Armitage subsequently be charged and found guility Armitage will be dealt with similarly.

Yet another "incident" involving a high profile England player is absolutely the last thing Lancaster wanted following on from the team's controversial World Cup campaign and its well documented litany of incidents involving players from the captain Mike Tindall downwards.

Meanwhile, London Irish would also appear to be rapidly losing patience over their player's behaviour: “London Irish is extremely disappointed to hear about the incident involving Delon whilst on an England Saxons release period and takes these matters extremely seriously.

"We fully understand the RFU stance on this matter and will convene our own internal investigation to procure a full understanding of the matter in question, the outcome of which will determine any further action. Player conduct is a direct representation of the club and, therefore, inappropriate conduct will be strongly acted upon.”
That rug really tied the room together.

Looking forward to a good competition this year. Would expect any one of Wales, France or Ireland to be the winners, but you don't know what will happen with the new England set up. I doubt there'll be an outright grand slam.

    Come on Wales!!!!
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Excellent stuff from Armitage Hopefully a new management structure will bring a new discipline and show the players this cant happen anymore

Liking the look of the new captain though

        Guscotts thoughts

Chris Robshaw can help England deliver new game plan

England have to play in a way interim boss Stuart Lancaster feels comfortable with and he needs someone to get his message across to the rest of the team.

That's why he's formed a leadership group and at the top of that is new captain Chris Robshaw.

Robshaw is skipper of a Harlequins side that are top of the Premiership, have a good work ethic and are playing with skill and ambition.

Lancaster believes some of the philosophy of that side - mostly the ambition - can be transferred to England.

Robshaw is a big part of driving that ethos at Quins and Lancaster hopes the flanker can do the same for the national team.

Robshaw may have only one cap but there's nothing to say that he doesn't deserve the captaincy.

He's captain of a side that are not only top of the league but came desperately close to qualification in the Heineken Cup - I don't think anyone can argue hard against the decision.

The fact he only has one cap is, to my mind, irrelevant, but it will be picked up on if England were to capitulate at Murrayfield.

That would be harsh, but what these guys have got to understand is that you eradicate any negativity by good performance. If you don't put in a good performance, be prepared for some flak.

The big thing about Robshaw is that he's got an engine that takes him through 80 minutes quite comfortably.

That should be the benchmark for England going forward, not just having players who can play for 60 minutes before they bring on the replacements.

O'Driscoll hasn't retired. He had surgery after the World Cup.

He should be back for the Heineken Cup final.

Looks about right ... perhaps give Scotland minus 4 points and then i would say you are bang on
