11-0. A confident looking start. Strauss and Cook need to put on a decent 1st wicket score here as neither has exactly set the world alight in the series so far.

Well that's a nice surprise to wake up to
I thought Harmisson would get something out of this pitch but Monty is a star. The 3rd best figures for an Englishman at Perth plus the first English spinner to take 5 wickets at Perth.
Bloody Cook got another low score, Jeebus, why are we persisting with him in this series?
I expect the Aussie bowlers to get a lot more out of this pitch so it really is game on. No way I can see this lasting 5 days now. England's first innings is crucial, we will have the best batting conditions today and we have to make use of them.
For the first time in the series our bowlers have put us in the match.
Up to our batsmen to join the party. It'll be tough though....Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Fletcher and Graveney look fools right now. Monty should have started the series not just the 3rd test. Idiots.

Too right!
I still think we'd be 1-0 down though.
The first test was a collective failure, the whole team was awful, batting bowling and fielding.
The second test would probably have been a draw had Monty played because we'd probably have had a bigger 1st innings lead and he would have caused more problems in their 2nd innings.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

From Cricinfo:
Sour face of the day
The moment Monty Panesar took his fifth wicket, the cameras, inevitably, sought out Duncan Fletcher in the England dressing-room. It was a picture of inscrutable misery.
Quote of the day
"I was quite pumped up, jumping around and dancing, not sure what to do," Monty Panesar after his first wicket.
Crowd moment of the day
The Barmy Army trumpeter's first note early in the opening session received a huge ovation from the England fans on the hill. Banned from the first two Tests, Bill Cooper was back and opened up his set with The Great Escape.

Call of the day
"Why don't you ring Michael Vaughan and ask him," yelled a spectator in the Lillee-Marsh Stand during a long conference between Andrew Flintoff and Steve Harmison.
Shots of the day
The first of Andrew Symonds' two straight sixes in the 13th over from Monty Panesar. Symonds strode down the pitch and planted the ball over the sightscreen at the Prindiville End.

I doubt it, all the reports from the last test stated that Fletcher wnated Monty to play but Flintoff stuck by Giles.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostAnyone see Fletcher's face when the cameras cut to him after Monty had taken his fifth wicket? Face like thunder, apparently, although I haven't seen it myself.
