Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse ...

Best chance you lot had of winning a game this series and he's gone with a nasty rib/chipped fingernail injury

              Who cares?

One-day cricket is totally meaningless, with the possible exception of the World Cup. I couldn't care less about this bollocks, and it's not cos we're ****. If we were the best one-day side in the world my attitude would be the same.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

                  Well said.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Agree with that, it's all about Test match cricket.

I'd suggest that sport only has meaning if we ourselves to choose to invest it with some. And I would explicitly include football in that. Just because football is much better than cricket it doesn't make it any more meaningful.

Is that not true for everything though Neil? Nothing has meaning unless we choose to invest it with some.

No, I'm not so sure about that. I think there is a reality that affects each of us and other things that are real but that need not have any effect on us unless we allow them to.

For instance, being knocked down by a bus and getting a broken leg is real and meaningful. A bunch of men from England (and elsewhere!) losing a game of cricket to a bunch of men from Australia really happened but has no bearing on me whatsoever.

But your broken leg is meaningless to me.
