That big breaking putt Poulter made on Saturday night at 10-4 down was unbelievable, looking back. That misses and we probably don't win.

I'm convinced there were Liverpool fans there last night...cause YNWA was sung on the first tee at the start by a small section, but very clearly. And it was followed by "we'll be coming, we'll be coming, we'll be coming down the road, when you hear the noise of (couldn't tell what they said here) boys, we'll be coming down the road"
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

They were reds as there was a liverpool flag on the first tee.

                  So many big moments

                  That from Poulter.

Rose nailing the monster at the 17th after Mickelson thought he had chipped in.

Furyk's lip out when he thought he had won it against Garcia.

                  Such good viewing.

Liverpool FC fan flies the flag at the Ryder Cup and gives Pep Guardiola a Don't Buy The Sun sticker

THEY say wherever you are in the world you will find a Scouser. Sure enough, as Europe clinched the Ryder Cup in dramatic and historic fashion against the USA on Sunday, a Liverpool FC flag was proudly fluttering in the light breeze at Medinah Country Club in Chicago, Illinois.

Anfield dad Colin Lloyd was in the stands cheering on Team Europe as they secured golf's biggest prize - and he got more than he bargained for when he first unfurled his Reds banner.

Colin said: "I hung the flag over and noticed someone turn around. It was [former Barcelona manager] Pep Guardiola. He said 'Liverpool' and put his thumbs up.

"He was a smashing fella. He knew exactly what I was there for. I gave him a Don't Buy The Sun sticker and he said 'I understand' and put it on.

"He stayed for every tee off. His little daughter was fast asleep, snoring behind the tee box."

Colin sent out a picture of Guardiola sporting the sticker on his Twitter account today and within hours it was trending in Liverpool - a reaction the 42-year-old was not expecting.

"I woke up and my Twitter had exploded," he said.

Although officials on course made him take his flag down claiming it was "advertising a brand", Colin was inundated with offers for it.

He said the popularity of the Reds in the USA has soared due to Being Liverpool - a behind-the-scenes TV documentary about the club currently showing on both sides of the Atlantic.

"Being Liverpool is massive over here," he said. "I could have flogged the flag for as much as I wanted but it belongs to my son Max."

Colin, who works at the Peter Lloyd Sports Centre in Tuebrook, was in Chicago with colleague Liam Poland.

The pair paid $430 between them for tickets for the final day of the Ryder Cup but said it was worth every cent to watch Europe pull off a stunning comeback.

Despite trailing 10-6 after Saturday's play, José María Olazábal's charges dug deep and claimed an unlikely 14½-13½ victory as the USA's Tiger Woods conceded the final hole on Sunday to Francesco Molinari.

"On Saturday night we said over our meal, 'we can do it.' We were convinced they would crumble and they did," said Colin.

"But you couldn't have written how it happened. If you had said that, you would have been carted off in a wheelie bin."

Comparisons have been made with the miracle of Istanbul in 2005, when LFC came back from 3-0 down to win the Champions League Final against AC Milan, but Colin says they are wide of the mark.

"On a golfing level it's the greatest comeback in the history of the Ryder Cup," he said. "But they are two different sports. You can't compare them."

Yet just like the Reds were inspired in Istanbul by fans singing You'll Never Walk Alone at half-time, Colin and a few other Merseyside golf fans gave the anthem an airing as Europe's star player Ian Poulter began his final round on Sunday.

"We were all singing that. There was a group of about 10 Scousers so we just kicked it off," he said.

"The Yanks were all singing their heads off so we had to come back with something."

Colin saw Europe beat the USA at Celtic Manor, Wales, at his first Ryder Cup in 2010 and has already registered to get tickets for the next contest at Scottish golf resort Gleneagles in 2014.

But for now the lifelong Red is looking forward to coming home for the football and taking eight-year-old Max to Anfield on Thursday night.

"I've had my golf," he said. "Now I'm ready for 'soccer!'"
