I felt the need to start a thread for all those with golfing experiences to discuss playing, equipment, deals, golfing tips or whatever. Enjoy!

There is a custom fit company in Manchester called Tour X Golf- anyone know of them?

I agree, I think personal fitting will make all the difference. Will check the Mizuno's out, have been looking at Ping's mostly, because it's what I already have, frustratingly whenever they bring out a new club, the previous model stays the exact same price.Originally posted by Assassin View PostKingfunk, on a more serious note. Mizuno, are now releasing their new range of irons. The likes of the JPX 800 and the JPX 800 pro will be fairly cheap now.
Try and get youself a fitting with a Mizuno stockist. Having the correct shaft in the club is just as important as the head itself

Makes all the difference.. I'm playing 3 times a week now since I moved here and I cannot wait to get a trip north of the border to get fitted with a new set.
At the moment I'm using regular flex Cobras (large head) but my handicap has dropped from 21 to 12 in about 8 months, I've been told to get into single digits I need to be fitted, also I'm short 5'8" so my swing arc is unnaturally extended as most manufacturers stock length suit players 5'10/11'' .
The other things that helped have been to buy a 60* lob wedge and a replacement for my 3 iron in the form of a 24* Hybrid.
I could hit a 3 iron about 200 yds but I was struggling with poor lies and longish grass in the rough, the hybrid is great and naturally slightly inset so I'm hitting 225 yds with a 5 yard draw with the same swing, it saves me lots of times for that crucial 2nd shot.

massively changed my swing the last few weeks after pissing about on the range, using no leg movement at all. Shortening my swing to about 3/4, lower body fairly still and slowed down swing, its going the same distance and straighter just using my shoulder rotation
makes me wonder what i could do with a proper swing

try it, time the swing in three beats;
1/ gentle back swing
2/ at top of swing cock wrists to natural fall
3/ swing, led by left, with right holding on like a handshake and the wrists will naturally break behind and through the ball and follow through.
the best way to describe the wrists breaking is that it resembles a match being struck...
