the club head connects with the ball in a fashion that resembles a match being struck... the mental image of the point of contact ...apologies if it wasn't perfectly clear

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I've just booked my 1st ever golf lesson for next week. Fancy getting into it so thought I'd take a look through some relevant threads on here.

Make sure your tutor has video...it's the best way to understand your errors rather than listening to someone tell you to bend this and change that...seeing it on playback is far simpler to make corrections..

                good timely bump

i can feel the bug - i could be on the way back

my swing was just non existent after being in the wilderness for so long......to the point where, i get invited to golf days and i don't want to go cause i know i won't enjoy it.

had my first lesson last week and straight away the pro picked up on two or three small things that were causing all my issues.

since then i've been the range twice this week working on it and already the results have been staggering - and things have come flooding back.

i've now committed to the following....

a lesson saturday morning for the next 4 saturdays

a round every sunday for the next 4 sundays - part of works society. should be good game for me to get back into it - the first 3 rounds are just on local munis, the lads are just 'hacker's so whilst it'll be a bit competitive it will also be a laugh.

and then at least once during mid week, i'll be going the range to work on it.

i'm quite fortunate that somehow, i've still got a decent short game.

if - in 4 weeks time, i'm still feeling like this - i've played regularly, i've enjoyed the lessons/the society rounds and i've got some sort of decent swing/strike going i'll then know it's worth making the financial commitment of looking at new clubs/joining a golf club
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I play off 13 and had my best round of the year yesterday morning, shot 76 at my course, Mid-Kent, it's a par 70. It should have been a 74 as I had 2 putts lip out but still very pleased with it. We have our pro-am day coming up on 7/6, I have managed to wangle myself a free round with our assistant pro this Wednesday as he is trying to sharpen up his game for it, hopefully he'll give me one or two tips while we are playing!!

Played a cracking course yesterday New Zealand Golf Course, managed to score 35 off an 18 h/c.

Need to get out more than the 1 a month I'm managing at the moment

Sounds good mate, the course is ranked 50th in England and 15th in Surrey which is pretty cool!!

I played La Finca yesterday quite long track at 6300 metres, severely hungover and shot a 3 over par 75

Played at Villamartin today.slow as ****. 5 hours and 10 mins for the round. I complained to the course marshall and told him to speed up play and he told me it was my fault for playing alone I mean WTF, the problem is ahead of me after 14 holes I needed to be -2 for the last 4 holes to play to my handicap. Birdie, bogie, birdie, birdie finish. The 18th was a 20cm tap in, almost holed it with my approach shot

Single players have no standing on the course and quite rightly!! In fact you should be fair game for drives

I agree in principle but I was at the back of the log jam of hackers. The course marshall was doing **** al about the speed,of play. He spent all of his time hiding in the shade of trees......
