I find it hard to get excited about that. I watched with m'boy.

Congratulations to him and all that - but something similar was accomplished in 1960 - a longer freefall at least.

    meh...

Watched it live on BBC News channel - brilliant!

Got a bit concerned when he started spinning but incredibly stabilised himself.

Was the speed the reason he did not achieve the longest freefall also?

I haven't seen his press conference yet, but got the impression that he couldn't keep himself stabilised any longer.

He was saying at the presser that he couldn't feel the wind because of the suit to correct himself. Compared it to swimming underwater in a space suit. Weird.

              Fantastic human being.

The guy giving him all the instructions etc on the radio link was Col Kittinger who held the record from 1960.

I thought it was amazing. Watching history. There aren't many great records like that left to be broken.
                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

                      He was incredible.

The build-up on the stream was tense and I honestly thought he was going to back out of it at the time.

                      Amazing though. Absolutely unreal.

I honestly thought it had all gone wrong. He seemed to be spiralling when falling then they cut right to the control room.

Great to see him land it. People like his don't have that part of the brain that tells them 'stop, this is madness' (or if they do they can suppress it magnificently).

To be going that high knowing anyone that has attempted it since the record was set has died in the process and still jump takes some guts!

Felt genuinely emotional when he jumped from the platform.

                              What an incredible feat!
