I like the way you've become our Tennis Correspondent.
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Yeah, you. You're really into it.
And that's good. I'm not taking the piss..

I am into it. Always have been - I played as a youngster. But I'm getting more into it - Murray's rise and the glorious state of men's tennis is obviously a contributory factor, but I enjoy it greatly because it just seems very pure sport to me. Whoever wins always wins on merit. There's no bull**** decisions or any of the bull**** that surrounds football. It's graceful, it's powerful and it's seriously ****ing hard going.
I've such admiration for those guys, charging around for up to five hours at such intensity. Must be an enormous strain on the body - all those sharp turns, changes of direction etc. It's just really great sport. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I used to play it too. I don't find it as watchable as you but I can see what you like about it. I have realised I tend to prefer watching the women - well, some of them. I'm so f*cking middle aged.

Well said. I played when I was younger also, and wish I had had coaching as advised. It is a great sport to play.
Tennis (well mens Tennis) is my favourite sport right now.
Thats right, favourite

The standard is pretty poor in the women's game though - and the grunting really puts me off. So many of them do it.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Playing tennis was great - I'd love to have a game now. I used to find it intensely stressful though - it's the most irritating game to play. I used to smash the **** out of my racketsOriginally posted by Buzzo View Post

I quite like the grunting. When both of them do it can get quite rhythmic...

Serving wasn't it? I had a bullet of a first serve (if accurate) but an absolute dolly of a second serve...Originally posted by Shaggy View PostPlaying tennis was great - I'd love to have a game now. Exactly the same - demon first serve, utter gash 2nd serve. I occasionally I used to like to throw in a surprise Michael Chang underarm.
Usually netted them

Never got stressed serving - always during rallies. If I ****ed up easy shots usually, unforced errors. Either repeatedly beat the ground with my racket or just launch it for ****ing miles.

I was a baseliner when it was cool to serve and volley
Tried to mix it up though and go to the net when I could.
Had a mate who I played regularly who was the most stressful bloke ever to play - all he ever did was 'get it back'. Never went for his shots, just got it back mid-court every time, and just waited for me/whoever he was playing to make an unforced error. Got particularly angry playing against him.
