Nine News are reporting in Australia that Sam Burgess wants to return to Rugby League. They say Burgess is in "top level negotiations" about a return to his former club, the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Burgess, who watched his former Rugby League team-mates England beat France 84-4 at the weekend, received widespread criticism during England's poor World Cup performance, having switched codes to join Bath last year.

That rumour's been around for a while. Obviously doesn't mean it won't happen but he's consistently denied it. I suppose if they offer him (and Bath) enough money then anything's possible. On the flip side, he doesn't strike me as the sort of bloke who wants to be known as a quitter.

Ireland and Ulster winger Tommy Bowe is facing six months on the sidelines after he underwent surgery to repair the knee injury he sustained during Ireland’s Rugby World Cup quarter-final defeat to Argentina.

Bowe was stretchered off during the first half of Ireland’s 43-20 loss in Cardiff, and it was revealed he had suffered posterior cruciate ligament and meniscal injuries to his right knee.
And now his province have confirmed the 31-year-old will now miss next year’s Six Nations campaign after going under the knife on Monday.
That rug really tied the room together.

I watched Rugby Tonight, on BT Sport, last night. They had Jonah Lomu on as a guest.
Amidst all the banter, they got him to recreate and talk through his demolition of England in 1995. As he went through each tackle, the level of detail he gave about each tiny movement that he made showed what an amazing amount of skill he had. One example is that he told how, after Will Carling sent him off balance and he was hammering towards Mike Catt. Just before the contact, he watched Catt's body position and moved his own so that he could plant his forward foot deliberately short of his normal stride length to give himself extra power in the contact. It wasn't instinctive, or something he did at every tackle. It was his skill level at being able to work out, at speed, the best way to get through that tackle.
Really opened my eyes and reminded me that he wasn't just a big bloke with the ball, he had skill and speed of thought to match.

I just saw David Denton in the cafe where I live.

                            He looked very young.

According to my homepage on the fantasy rugby game I was joint 505th in the whole world for the second semi final game day points. Not sure how accurate that is as I am apparently tied with, and in some instances ranked below, people who scored fewer points.

vd Merwe for Canada for me. Followed closely by Savea for the sheer strength to plough through them.
