I ****ed the football off in the end and watched us tear Italy a new one We played near enough our strongest 15, and it was quite encouraging. We don't have the squad depth to compete, but we are slowly moving in the right direction. Good performances from the backs, with Hogg looking a live wire, Finn Russell looking inventive at 10.

We scrummaged well too.

Italy were ****e, but hey ho, you can only beat what's in front of you.
