The DG attempt they fashioned for Patchell

Was miles out. They should have hung on to the ball.

Yeah the DG attempt wasn’t set well and there was a chance for more phases.

Right just got to hope we turn up next Saturday and batted this lot

3-4 play offs are pointless in most sports. But in a physical game like RU I just don’t see the point.

Nether team wants to play that game and Wales will barely have a team to put out.

As predicted an absolutely awful game, but who cares. And despite the close score, I think SA controlled the game well and should have forced more penalties. Handling was abysmal. When de Allende scored, I think Joburg erupted. Think that must be the most noise I've heard here outside of the Wanderers or Ellis Park. Not sure if I mentioned it before, but I almost got into a fight with de Allende in a Cape Town bar in 2014. He was just coming through for the Stormers then. Don't really rate him, but he was the hero today.

The est-proclaimed best team ever Wales was defeated. Looking forward to next week. 95, 07, 19. Would be a lovely sequence. England are better, but will know they're in for a massively aggressive game which the Boks will rise for.

Good call, Nev on your predictions of England and then SA, things could play out exactly how you predicted.

Wales spoiler tactics didn’t work today.

I don’t think anyone particularly rates them they just seem to have a knack of getting a result.

The big thing for England is can they match or better yesterday? That performance will have taken a lot out of them mentally and physically. Can they go again?

We know SA can play better than we saw today.

Marx also needs to start, scrum is a million times better with him on the pitch and he gains crucial metres. He is effective coming on late, but the team is better with him on the pitch.

Will be good to have Kolbe back next week too.

Hate the brand of rugby that is being played, but Rassie has done a wonderful job with this group considering where Meyer and Coetzee left SA rugby in a diabolical state. In minimal time he's taken the hardest job in the game and is excelling. He promised a final and delivered it.

The extra day's rest is going to be useful for England I think.

SA today went back to where they are comfortable whereas they've shown in the last year that they can play dynamic rugby.

I sense next week they will stick with old style SA rugby again but who knows. Maybe they'll think EJ will anticipate the same and go back to something more expansive?

I'm not sure England can play as well as they did yesterday two weeks on the trot but if they can then they are going to be tough to beat.

Anyway, enough of this World Cup ****e. The real performance of the weekend was at Murrayfield.

                    Edinburgh mauled Scarlets 46-7.

A few new players kicking about and I was particularly impressed by SA hooker Mike Willemse, who on that form (2 try’s, immaculate throwing) will give McInally some problems getting back into the 15.

3 easy finishes for Duhan Van Der Merwe in an emphatic win, without any of the internationals.

Mark Bennett and Matt Scott the 2015 centre partnership for Scotland both looking low they still have something to offer having both arrived into the new season fully fit.

                        Yes quite

Of more interest to the English on here (well me anyway); how did Hogg get on?

I'm just back from Cyprus so not quite up to speed with any rugby other than the WC, but I noticed he'd started his first premiership game at the weekend?

I watched it actually. Or most of it.

Atrocious weather conditions meant the ball spent most of the game stuffed up various jumpers, the backs stood in line waiting... and waiting.

He did the basics well, or the little that was asked of him. Caught well. Waited for non existent ball well.

It will be other days where he is judged. Chiefs lost 13-10.

I saw the score so guessed the conditions weren't great given the Chiefs don't usually struggle to reach double figures.

I hope Hogg stays fit and shows what he can do. On the face of it he's gone to a team that should suit his style so it would be a shame if he spends large parts of his time there in the treatment room.

I can’t believe I am going to say this. But 100% with England on this.

What a load of bollocks. If ever you needed evidence that World Rugby place far too much importance, support and respect towards the ABs then this is it. The Haka is a massive boon for them. I think trans should be allowed to be creative in how they respond.

I’ll bet nobody would have given a **** if the ABs had won. It’s a joke.

Anyway, that’s as much support as I can offer cmon the Boks!!!

Storm in a tea cup, same thing with the Jaco Peyper missing out on the NZ - Eng semi because of taking the photo with Welsh fans. Get over it. No one in this world should give a **** about such trivial things.
