Just seen it now, very nasty crash. The first thing F1 now need to do is ban any vehicle or structure where the cars can possibly drive under, tbh I'm surprised this was not already the case, for years it's been law to have barriers on road trucks to fill the space underneath.

See this earlier today, that is beyond luck, try that 100,000 times again and someone would be killed every time. Mental.

Yeah just saw the Bianchi crash too. Headfirst into a massive metal object. The force of it is pretty big. He's lucky to be alive.

There's a few different angles of the video knocking around. It looks bad. There's no way it looks like he's going 60mph!

There's no much force, it lifts and turns the tractor thing. And they don't look light

It lifted the tractor off the ground, Incredible. It's disgraceful that cars are still driving at speed with a massive chunk of metal in a run off zone, and especially in the wet. If he'd missed the tractor he could have well hit and killed one of the marshals.

It's massive force, shocking really to think of so much force on a person's head. Closed cockpits are being mentioned again but hard to see how that would have helped much. It's inevitable the safety car will be used more often now, if a car goes off and can't recover by itself then we'll see a safety car I reckon.

                    Hope so.

The more I see different videos it's obvious that if either Bianchi had been 6 inches more to the left or if the machine had reversed another 6 inches it would have been a gruesome scene.

Wow the force in that video is unbelievable. What I can't seem to fathom is how he goes off at such high speed...i wonder whether there was some sort of failure or something because he looks to be going very quick at the point of impact.

Aquaplaning wouldn't allow any breaking but it just doesn't seem right.

I really hope he recovers, it's a miracle he didn't die instantly.

Family statement confirms he's suffered a "diffuse axonal injury".

                          From wiki:

"one of the most common and devastating types of traumatic brain injury,[1] meaning that damage occurs over a more widespread area than in focal brain injury. DAI, which refers to extensive lesions in white matter tracts, is one of the major causes of unconsciousness and persistent vegetative state after head trauma.[2] It occurs in about half of all cases of severe head trauma.

The outcome is frequently coma, with over 90% of patients with severe DAI never regaining consciousness.[2] Those who do wake up often remain significantly impaired.[3]

**** I'm surprised he's even alive after seeing the crash but if he ends up in a vegetative state for the rest of his days, that's probably the worst outcome after death.

I would argue it's worse than death.
