Wish I hadn't seen that video now. The race should not have been going at all at that stage with the weather. In those conditions a safety car should have at least been sent out with the crane on track in those conditions. I'm sick to my stomach that this has happened to the poor lad and i hoe he makes it but someone need to be held accountable for having the race started so late knowing the weather was going to only get worse.

Also why is the idiot waving a green flag while the crane is still on track? It's clear as day in the video

Lot of confusion about that flag but its technically correct because its after the crash site, albeit by only a few meters. The double yellows would have been waved at the marshal post before that one to warn drivers as they approach.

On the flip side of the terrible Bianchi prognosis

That model of teleporter is apparently 19 tonnes in weight. Bianchis car lifted it a good foot off the ground, that is a savage impact. Telemetry shows he went off at 130 mph+, and not much of that speed was lost in spinning as his car launched over the gravel trap due to the high kerbing on that corner. Well that's whats being suggested by some F1 journos/commentators.

Yep, I think I saw a slowed down version of it...

They knew the forecast and that there was barely enough light to complete the race with any potential (probable) rain delay. Should have been brought forward if I know that knowing pretty much nothing about F1. I won a few quid on the race with a Mercedes win with the inevitable safety car featuring during the race.

Honda objected to it being moved.

**** them, I imagine it wasn't moved so it wasn't too early for the Europeans?

Yes, and moving the start would cause havoc with tv companies and satellite slots etc.

Probably less troublesome if it had been scheduled for a sensible time when the calendar was first released.

A top athlete is essentially dead, just to avoid a bit of hassle. I wonder how the other drives feel to lose him and easily could have been them.

Not related to this but did anyone see 'Road' film/documentary about the Dunlop brothers? Road racers, both killed racing, it's absolutely both fascinating and heartbreaking. Really captivating tv, must see for anyone into motorsport.

No one is forced to be a racing driver. It is by definition a dangerous living. That's why they are extremely well paid. All drivers are aware of the risks, I don't think they would want us all feeling sorry for them.
