I think that the main reason to all the injuries is that they slowed down the surface and balls to much.

That means that you get longer duels. Longer duels on grass means a lot twists and turns in a lot quicker tempo than on clay.

Then add what you already talked about that it is only two weeks apart between RG and Wimbledon and you get a lot of injured players.

People keep saying things like "be a pity for Murray if this is the year he wins it" - there's only really Nadal who was in his way and has gone. He'd have beaten Tsonga easily - he still has to get past Federer and Djokovic which is exactly the same as every other Grand Slam.
