Simon Fuller seems to have helped him get the media and public behind him via this massive PR campaign. Think he'd have won Wimbledon without it? Maybe not.

What a prick. I suppose Flushing Meadow was full of Brits too. FFS half the country can't ****ing stand him. Dunno how people listen to that station.Originally posted by Sarb View PostI was listening to Talksport yesterday and some Manc came on claiming that it wasn't that big an achievement. Would have been bigger if he didn't do it in front of a partisan crowd. WTF. Then started going on about how Giggs and Fergie had bigger achievements. Was quite a ridiculous call. I only listen to it to have a laugh at the utter stupidity of the people on it.
Was a tremendous achievement by Murray. The guy is standing toe-to-toe with 3 of the greatest ever male tennis players. This is a British guy when British tennis, quite frankly, is ****e.
Some people are on a different planet. Worship losers like Tim Henman and mock winners like Andy Murray

A wee bit maybe.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHaha. Is that a joke?
You wumming again?

Though you can't say it hasn't helped. It was done to achieve that purpose. Of course he had all the attributes to win it anyway but getting everyone behind him and pulling in the same direction, made him more focused and determined etc ...
You can't dispute that no?
Are we winning?

Of course but Wimbledon is more difficult to win, allegedly.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHmmm well he had great support, yeah. But he didn't in the US Open but he beat Djokovic anyway and won the title. It's incidental.
And, the support is one thing, but it helped him focus and gave him extra motivation to actually do what's required to win in difficult moments. You could see that he wanted it that bit more on Sunday. Broke back straight away after it seemed Novak had the better of him.
I'm not trying to belittle his achievement in winning this, he deserves it and had it in him and probably has it in him to become No.1. But talent alone doesn't guarantee success. Are we winning?

Don't see why it wouldn't be. There was a new bit at the very start and a good bit at the end (last 6-7 minutes maybe) all about the final, the night after and morning after. Worth watching.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostIs the updated Murray documentary on the iPlayer? Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I don't suppose better PR harmed but its contribution is insignificant to the big change he made i.e. bringing in Lendl.Originally posted by Nigey View PostOf course but Wimbledon is more difficult to win, allegedly.

And the reason he performed better in key moments is the confidence he gained from winning the US Open and that was helped in turn by the confidence he got from winning the Olympics...at Wimbledon (which incidentally gave him a lot of good PR and doubtless helped to build home support).
With the great players around at the moment he was never a certainty to win it but he has been improving for a year while two of the others are clearly in decline for one reason or another.
In that context Murray's PR is to his on court performances like a lifeboat on a supertanker..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

There's probably not a lot between the No. 1 and the No. 5 in the world in terms of super tanker size quality as well, so contextually, it might have helped and been a significant factor.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostI don't suppose better PR harmed but its contribution is insignificant to the big change he made i.e. bringing in Lendl.
