There is a place in cricket for T20. It allows the game to also have a format which can last for 5 days and end in a draw. It's exciting, unpredictable and a format that is an easier sell for kids.

I pretty much agree. I'm no fan of T20 but it's growing on me.

T20 has become a much better game in recent years - for ages once a team got on top the game was over, now there are swings and narrative and it feels like a proper contest. You just have to adjust your expectations for what is good/bad scoring. You can now see that teams have proper plans and can be reactive - the tactical element that makes cricket great is there now.
Also a lot of the most consistent batsmen play predominantly 'proper' cricket shots the majority of the time.
