We had **** teams then, especially under Athers, I thought they were both tremendous captains and practically everyone who played under them talks about what great leaders they were.

I've liked pretty much everything Vaughan has had to say in the last few days. Also agree with him and Nasser that KP needs to be brought into the 'inner sanctum' - make him vice captain and have him fielding in the slips, or at least in the ring rather than stuck on the fence at long on or whatever.

Root has said before that KP has been brilliant with the younger players helping them out and offering advice so its not like he has been strutting around in his own little world.

The selectors have to make a decision now on which way they want the team to go. Will they look at it and think Pietersen has only got a few years left and that Flower is more important in the long term or that the best batsman is more important and they need to find a coaching structure to get the best out of him and the others.

Ed Cowan was the one who bought up the hint of KP retiring and he is supposed to know him pretty well, wonder if the management are putting pressure on him to do that in order to take away the whole situation.

Swann , Broad and Anderson come across bigger dickheads than KP in all honesty. KP is a maverick. Unbelievable batter, but is constantly the scapegoat . Like seone said above, Swann pretty much got away with what he said in his bio about KP. Wasnt going to help team morale that book

As I've said a few times, after going to a test and seeing the way he treats the fans Kev is a top bloke. He just plays the pantomime villain for lols.

All his so called cuntery and lack of care can easily be explained.

He had big bust ups with the team when he was captain because he saw this **** coming and wanted to make changes.

He looked non-plussed when it went down as it was his "told you so" moment that needed to happen for those changes.

All just a complete guess, but it made sense to me.
