Graham Onions can feel rightly aggrieved - why the **** is he not in this squad?
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Broad is only 27. I think we have a few more years left in his career with England.
        *Except Michael, who died.

Of course. Cook, Broad, Bell at 31 shows no signs of deteriorating. More in their 30s than their 20s though.

            So we have:-

            Cook
            Root
            Broad
Bell (4 more years I think, great technique)
Prior (Same as Bell, just out of form)
            Stokes

Then its people like Bairstow and Ballance

Past that, I think its going to be a fallow few years again.

Kerrigan could still come good - he just choked big style but his bowling was excellent last year.

Finn of course is a good age and has the talent.

Yeah, Finn. Forgot about him. He needs to nail down his consistency. He can clearly do it.

Not watching county cricket I ask this question seriously not metaphorically, but are we that bad?

Is there a dearth talent or have we just fallen into the Aussie trap of not rotating in new talent soon enough?

On one hand you can definitely see the succession plan forming. Root to open, Bairstow to keep, Ben Stokes all rounder, Ballance to also open once he gets a chance....

On paper it seems like we're doing enough for continuance, but are we? And where are the new generation of bowlers?

At 31, Jimmy is not done. He should be quality for another couple of years before there is any real decline.

He's definitely lost pace though, although I wonder if he has deliberately taken the pace off the ball in this test match due to the wicket.

As for Mitch, he bowled a good ball and Cook played down the wrong line. His brain was probably frazzled after 2 days in the field and watching so many things go wrong. He looked comfortable against Mitch in the last test.

The worry for me is Swann. He is done and I reckon he'll retire after this series. Is Monty good enough to replace him? He'll have to be because we've got nobody else to come in.

Bairstow will not replace Prior. It'll be the lad who keeps in the one day games. He should have gone on this tour tbh.

No. Can't bat, can't field, can barely bowl. He's a liability.

I dunno how he gets in the side.

Because there are no other spinners at county level that are even close to being able to bowl as well as him. There is nobody else out there.

Is there anything in the two T20 openers? Hales and Lumb?
