Mitchell Johnson has made the lower order **** themselves but when Lyon is taking 5 wickets on a pitch that hasn't turned anything you know the batting is in serious trouble.

      It's now beyond embarrassing, it's actually become so ludicrous it's funny. They are laughably ****. 65-0, 86-1, 86-2, 86-3...........173-5, 179 all out!!!!

I jacked it when Cook was looking settled but Carberry was struggling (don't see a future for him at this level) and wake up to the same old story.

Going to need a bit of restructuring especially if Trott is not going to come back.

Seems clear now Carberry isn't good enough. Failed experiment.

Yep the team needs dismantling IMO. The most difficult thing is it is our batting that is the most culpable and continually failing, yet somehow most of the batsmen remain undroppable. Can't drop Cook, Pietersen, Bell or Root.

Tim 'No Mug with the Bat' Bresnan scored a total of 1 in this Test match. One. He should be dropped forever. Waste of space.

I know we have done this to death but what are going to end up with next summer?

              Cook
              Root
              Bell
              KP
              Taylor?
              Stokes
Bairstow (Thought he kept pretty well but I have heard Buttler getting talked up)
              Broad
              Finn
              Anderson
              Monty?

James Whitaker coming in as selector will be interesting - he will surely have pretty different ideas, especially after this debacle.

Bit harsh to pick on Bressie. he was hardly the only 1 to fail with bat, including players selected purely for their batting.

And he was bowling pretty well. 18 for 24 with 6 maidens, keeping it nice and tight for Anderson.

Cook has just dropped a dolly at slip which would have got rid of Warner.

113-1, absolutely no chance from here.

What is the point in picking Panesar and not bowling him? Cook is a terrible captain, England are making a mediocre Aussie team look amazing.

4 nil. To get into a reasonable position and surrender so meekly is really surprising and not something you expected from this England team before this tour. A new captain needs to be found to allow Cook to concentrate on his batting (maybe Broad?). A lack of leadership seems obvious as the whole tour has been a disaster.

I'm not sure you can level the batting collapses at Cook, the top and middle order have been utterly useless and the side needs a real shake up but I'd still probably keep Cook on as captain for now.

Players that need to be ditched though are Carberry, Bresnan, Prior and potentially you've got to think about Jimmy as well.

I think a lot of the failures from this tour have come from mental burn out to be honest as well as some have just fallen over the edge in terms of performance (Prior & Jimmy).
